DDR FESTIVAL -Dance Dance Revolution- is a music video game developed and published by Konami and released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2 in Japan only.
General Information / Changes[]
- Released the same day as Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX2.
- Coincidentally, several pieces of background music from ULTRAMIX are re-used in DDR FESTIVAL -Dance Dance Revolution- and new background music is shared with Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX2.
- First "catch up" Japanese Dance Dance Revolution title. Most of the song list consists of new KONAMI originals from Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX and Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME CS (North America), along with a few new licenses, some of the licenses from Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME CS (North America), some old KONAMI original Dance Dance Revolution songs, and two new KONAMI originals.
- Song list as a result has a large emphasis on BEMANI crossovers than most Japanese CS Dance Dance Revolution releases. Of the 55 KONAMI originals in DDR FESTIVAL, only 19 are original Dance Dance Revolution songs/original remixes.
- Interface is taken directly from EXTREME CS (America), though licenses, default KONAMI originals, and hidden songs are all colored differently from one another unlike in that game.
- It also uses the same scoring system as EXTREME CS (America) (full combo required to AA, and songs are worth 70% possible score before bonus points).
- Most of the ULTRAMIX songs have brand-new HEAVY charts on Single (INSERTiON(Machine Gun Kelly Mix) got a new Single BASIC chart only). None of them have BEGINNER charts.
- Double charts remain untouched, except for ABSOLUTE (Cuff -N- Stuff it Mix), which got a new Double HEAVY chart.
- Keep Ya Body Movin' and There 4 you are the only ULTRAMIX songs that did not receive new charts.
- First Japanese PlayStation 2 Dance Dance Revolution release compatible with Sony's EyeToy accessory, which can be used to play mini-games and exclusive modes.
- None of the songs included in DDR FESTIVAL -Dance Dance Revolution- feature CHALLENGE charts in GAME MODE.
- 桜's CHALLENGE charts are in the game, but they're only playable in the Adrenaline Course.
- BeForU members Riyu Kosaka and Noria Shiraishi appear on the back cover of the DDR FESTIVAL -Dance Dance Revolution- box, as well as in screenshots on the official site advertising the new EyeToy games.
- Both also appear on a short video shown on the attract mode, demonstrating the aforementioned EyeToy features and minigames.
- Electro Tuned(the SubS mix) uses its original background and its DDRMAX -Dance Dance Revolution- banner, despite the song receiving a new set of graphics in Dancing Stage EuroMIX2.
- Can unlock everything in Dance Dance Revolution Party Collection through System Data Support.
- Total songs: 66
