Dance Dance Revolution, released in Europe as Dance Dance Revolution: hottest party 4 for the Wii version and Dance Dance Revolution: New Moves for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, is a music video game in the Dance Dance Revolution series developed by Konami. Unveiled at E3 2010, it was released for the Wii and PlayStation 3 in North America on November 16, 2010. It was also released for the Xbox 360 on April 12, 2011. It is the fourth game in the Hottest Party series and the 4th main DDR Wii game (besides Disney Grooves and Winx Club, the latter of which was released only in Europe).

General Information / Changes[]

PS3/Xbox 360 version[]

  • First and only PlayStation 3 Dance Dance Revolution game.
    • Also the only Dance Dance Revolution title developed by Genki, best known for their Wangan MIDNIGHT and TOKYO XTREME RACER series of racing games.
  • Both Dance Dance Revolution (PS3) and Dance Dance Revolution (2010) were released on the same date on North America. Both games share all licenses and 25 of the 36 KONAMI original songs.
  • Only CS North American Dance Dance Revolution title with a direct port on another system - the Xbox 360.
    • The Xbox 360 version of Dance Dance Revolution marks the series' final installment in any region on that system.
    • All PlayStation Move modes have been removed.
    • The Xbox 360 version of DanceDanceRevolution is region locked and can only be played in NTSC/U consoles, much like the first Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE.
  • Game uses a completely different interface from any previous Dance Dance Revolution title, with a large emphasis on red and black.
  • Music preview clips play on the result screen.
  • Only CS North American Dance Dance Revolution title since DDRMAX -Dance Dance Revolution- with no playable dancers in the background.
  • Songs only have Single charts.
  • Each note of a jump is judged individually; jumps count as two notes for combo purposes once again.
    • Also the only Dance Dance Revolution title where OK's on Freeze Arrows add to your combo.
  • GROOVE RADAR is gone.
  • Difficulty scale is 1-10, instead of the standardized 1-20 introduced two years earlier in Dance Dance Revolution X. However, several charts were re-rated.
    • It also uses a right side song wheel, though jackets are still used instead of banners for songs.
  • CHALLENGE charts for songs are playable, but must be unlocked by clearing a song's EXPERT chart first.
    • Most of the CHALLENGE charts use the game's new Octo-Mode, which uses eight different steps (top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right) to play a song.
  • A new game mechanic, GROOVE TRIGGER, is introduced. Turning this on when your dance gauge is full allows you to get extra points. However, it also cuts your gauge in half once activated.
  • EDIT mode is not in the game.
  • Video plays of songs can be exported to the console's hard drive in the PlayStation 3 version. Only KONAMI originals can be recorded, though.
  • Total songs: 50, plus 30 DLC songs (not including Full Version songs)

Wii version[]

  • Fifth Dance Dance Revolution game on the Nintendo Wii for North America and Europe.
  • Released as Dance Dance Revolution hottest party4 in Europe.
  • Both Dance Dance Revolution (2010) and Dance Dance Revolution (PS3) were released on the same date on North America. Both games share all licenses and 25 of the 36 KONAMI original songs.
  • Gimmicks have been removed, in favor for Choreograph Mode's mechanics.
    • Also gone due to Choreograph Mode are music videos. The only songs that have dedicated videos in this game are the mix medleys.
  • Dancers now have taller, more adult bodies.
  • GOODs no longer break the player's combo. This also applies to Dance Dance Revolution (PS3), as well as Dance Dance Revolution II / hottest party5, and would carry over to arcade releases in Dance Dance Revolution (2013).
  • Can unlock everything in Dance Dance Revolution HOTTEST PARTY3 through System Data Support.
  • Total songs: 56
