Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) Wiki

Dance Dance Revolution (i-αppli) is a music video game developed by Konami and published by Konami and released in 2008 on Mobile Phones.

General Information / Changes[]

  • While all songs in any version of Dance Dance Revolution (i-αppli) have three difficulties, they have different charts than their arcade or CS counterpart.
    • All songs scroll at a constant BPM, including previous songs that originally had BPM changes in them.
  • The trial song is only available before downloading the other songs, probably due to limited storage space on the mobile.
  • The first version is also referred as DanceDanceREV.
  • The first version was initially only available on NTT DoCoMo 501 series of mobile only.
  • The monthly fee was 300 Yen when using the mobile service KONAMI NET (コナミネット).
  • The app was later released on J-Sky (J-スカイ) on June 22nd, 2001 and ezplus (EZウェブ) on July 1st, 2001.
    • An i-mode version was released on April 10th, 2002 under the title Dance Dance Revolution Limited Edition for a special monthly fee of 80 Yen.
  • All the songs are available on three difficulties: EASY, NORMAL and HARD.
  • Each month, the user received 10 points. Each song cost 1 point.
  • The game was revamped in 2004 to include more features and better graphics.
    • The visuals are based on Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME.
    • The game can now be played as SOUND+IMAGE (audio with the song's background) or only SOUND (no background).
    • The HIDDEN, SUDDEN and STEALTH modifiers were added.
    • None of the original songs from the first version were carried over, save for a few exceptions.
  • The revamped version received different songs on each service the game was available on:
    • i-mode and EZweb with a KONAMI NET DX (コナミネットDX) subscription.
    • Yahoo! Keitai with a KONAMI MUSIC HITS! subscription.
      • A total of 6 packs (each named Dance Dance Revolution vol.1 to 6) of 5 songs were available only with this service.
  • The monthly updates from 2004 to 2005 had 1 song, then 3 songs in 2006.
    • After July 23rd, 2006, all three services started receiving the same songs at the same time.
    • Vodafone live was changed into Yahoo! Keitai on July 23rd, 2006.
  • The trial version of the revamped game won the 準グランプリ (Semi Grand Prize) at AOY2005 (App of the Year 2005).
  • The game was shut down on September 28th, 2010 along with the KONAMI NET DX service. Dance Dance Revolution S+ took its place instead.
