Dance Dance Revolution A20 PLUS is a music video game developed and published by Konami and released on arcade platform on 2020.
General Information / Changes[]
- Updated release of Dance Dance Revolution A20, with new background animations and a new set of BGM.
- This makes A20 PLUS the first PLUS release in the arcade Dance Dance Revolution series since Dance Dance Revolution 4thMIX PLUS.
- Plus signs have been added to background videos on the song select and score overview screens.
- First North American Dance Dance Revolution version released via online update.
- A new "level measurement" feature, entitled "LET'S CHECK YOUR LEVEL!" is now available; if the player fails the first stage, they will then play an alternative chart of This Beat Is....., after which they will be given a recommended difficulty level and songs to play. If they are playing with Premium Play, they will then proceed to the second stage as normal.
- This is only available when playing without an e-amusement pass, or if the player has not cleared a chart rated Level 7 or higher.
- This feature was also accessed in VERSUS PLAY if any of the players failed a song, regardless if the other player cleared it or not. This was fixed on July 16th, 2020.
- A new LIFE GAUGE type, "FULL CLEAR" has been added. It is depicted as a completely filled, brighter version of the NORMAL life gauge, slowly pulsing white. Misses and NG's do not deplete the gauge, allowing the player to pass a song without any danger of failing.
- This gauge only shows up when playing "LET'S CHECK YOUR LEVEL!".
- "LET'S CHECK YOUR LEVEL!" is not included on the European version of the game.
- The crowd audio clips are much quieter and play less often during gameplay.
- All of the licenses exclusive to the 20th anniversary model cabinets of A20 remain exclusive.
- At launch, all of the songs region locked in the North American release of A20 were still region locked in A20 PLUS.
- On February 5th, 2021, the region locked songs from Dance Dance Revolution A were made available.
- European machines do not have e-amusement support due to regulations by the European Union. However, this version does not require an e-amusement connection.
- EXTRA STAGE, all EXTRA STAGE-related unlock systems, DDR SELECTION, CHALLENGE-only songs, and gameplay options requiring e-amusement or Premium Play are unavailable in the European version because of this.
- The European release of A20 PLUS is based on the February 2021 version of the game for upgraded machines, the December 2021 version of the game for machines sold from 2022 to 2023, and the final February 2022 version for machines sold since 2024. The song list differs as follows:
- Licensed songs removed in-game on the May 21st, 2021 update of Dance Dance Revolution A, and in future versions of Dance Dance Revolution A20 PLUS, remain absent.
- Upgraded machines retain eight songs from the POPULAR SONGS folder in Dance Dance Revolution A: Believe, Break Free, Happy, Hillbilly Shoes, I Want You To Know, Shut Up and Dance, Time Of Our Lives and Wake Me Up. New machines do not include these songs.
- On new machines, the 11 GOLDEN LEAGUE songs from Dance Dance Revolution A20 are unlocked, and can be played without an e-amusement pass. On upgraded machines, songs released after the 7th GOLDEN LEAGUE (Starlight in the Snow, Glitch Angel, Golden Arrow and CyberConnect) remain absent.
- On new machines sold since 2024, most licensed songs that are not in the POPULAR SONGS folder are removed. However, the four default GOLDEN LEAGUE PLUS songs (DIGITALIZER, Draw the Savage, MUTEKI BUFFALO and Going Hypersonic) are unlocked, and can be played without an e-amusement pass.
- European machines come with a brand new marquee for A20 PLUS.
- Machines upgraded from Dance Dance Revolution A still use that game's marquee.
- Final Dance Dance Revolution release to be sold in Europe.
