Dance Dance Revolution GRAND PRIX, is the PC title in the Dance Dance Revolution Console series and successor to 2020s Dance Dance Revolution V, Dance Dance Revolution Grand Prix is ​​the latest Dance Dance Revolution console game being released on November 8, 2021 by Konami Amusement and the third game to be published on PC.

General Information / Changes[]

  • First online PC Dance Dance Revolution title.
  • The interface is based on Dance Dance Revolution A3's non-20th anniversary model version.
    • Grading system and character animations are the same as well.
    • Prior to June 22nd, 2022, the interface was based on Dance Dance Revolution A20 PLUS.
  • Songs exclusive to 20th anniversary model cabinets are not present in this version.
  • All licenses in the game outside of music packs are covers.
    • As such, any master recording licenses, as well as other covers, have been removed.
    • Except for LA BAMBA and music pack licenses, all licenses appear in the DDR GRAND PRIX folder, regardless of their origin.
  • Tickets must be purchased to play most of the modes of GRAND PRIX, similar to SOUND VOLTEX III GRAVITY WARS コナステ. The costs are as follows:
    • 5 tickets: 110 yen/PASELI
    • 25 tickets (plus 1 free ticket): 550 yen/PASELI
    • 50 tickets (plus 4 free tickets): 1100 yen/PASELI
    • 100 tickets (plus 12 free tickets): 2200 yen/PASELI
    • 200 tickets (plus 35 free tickets): 4400 yen/PASELI
  • Five gameplay modes are present:
    • The following two modes only appear for players without an active basic course subscription. Only Single is available, and scores do not save. The modes are as follows:
      • Free Play (フリープレー): Allows unlimited stages for free until quitting from the menu. Song selection is limited to a small subset of the GRAND PRIX mode. Only BEGINNER charts are playable.
      • Trial Normal Play (トライアルノーマルプレー): Costs 5 tickets to play. Up to three stages can be played, but it is possible to fail out early. All songs available by default in the arcade version are available for play, minus CHALLENGE-only charts and songs not available in this version. Options are limited to those available in the arcade version's Normal Play mode. The experience of this mode is comparable to playing the arcade version without logging in.
    • The following three modes require the player to join the basic course, which costs 1,628 yen/PASELI a month. Scores will save when playing, but scores achieved are recorded separately from the arcade version. Both Single and Double are available in these modes:
      • GRAND PRIX Play (グランプリプレー): Does not cost tickets. Allows unlimited stages until quitting from the menu. Song selection consists of the GRAND PRIX folder and songs up to SuperNOVA2. Options are taken from the Arcade Premium Play mode. Songs bought in music packs can also be played in this mode.
      • Arcade Premium Play (アーケードプレミアムプレー): Costs 6 tickets to play. Three stages guaranteed, plus EXTRA STAGE if earned. All songs available by default in the arcade version are available for play, with the exception of songs not available in this version. Songs already unlocked by the player in the arcade version are also available, except for EXTRA SAVIOR WORLD, whose songs are playable in EXTRA STAGE only (regardless of unlock status in the arcade version). All options are available in the options menu.
      • Arcade Normal Play (アーケードノーマルプレー): Costs 5 tickets to play. Up to three stages can be played, but it is possible to fail out early. Song selection is mostly the same as Arcade Premium Play, except that some of the unlockable songs from the arcade version will not be available. Options are limited to those available in the arcade version's Normal Play mode.
  • A new dance mat can be purchased for use in this game, as shown here.
  • First Dance Dance Revolution game to support 120 FPS.
  • A number of songs received higher-resolution background movies.
  • There is currently no support for NONSTOP or DAN courses.
  • There is currently no support for VERSUS play.
  • An update on December 15th, 2021 added the following:
    • The GAME SETTING option that allows the player to change options (i.e. FAST/SLOW) in-game in the CONFIG menu.
    • Multiple game pads can now be supported through the GAMEPAD SETTING option, accessible from the CONFIG menu.
    • When joining the basic course, GRAND PRIX will now inform the player of any play data they have from the arcade version of Dance Dance Revolution.
  • GRAND PRIX began receiving new songs from Dance Dance Revolution WORLD on July 3rd, 2024, despite still using the interface from Dance Dance Revolution A3.
    • It also received the difficulty changes from Dance Dance Revolution WORLD on the same day.
