Dance Dance Revolution HOTTEST PARTY 2 is the second Dance Dance Revolution Wii game and second installment in the HOTTEST PARTY series. It is the sequel to Dance Dance Revolution HOTTEST PARTY. HOTTEST PARTY 2 was released on September 16, 2008 in North America. A teaser site for the Japanese release called Dance Dance Revolution Furu Furu Party was launched on December 9, 2008 featuring new gameplay footage from the game.
Gameplay[]
HOTTEST PARTY 2 features the same gameplay as the first HOTTEST PARTY and introduces new gameplay modes, gimmicks, characters and graphical enhancements. The game also features an all-new soundtrack featuring licensed music from the past four decades as well as new Konami Originals.
Changes from HOTTEST PARTY[]
- Completely brand new graphics were introduced which stretch the limits of the hardware capabilities.
- Although all of the licensed songs in HOTTEST PARTY were cover versions, only 6 songs in HOTTEST PARTY 2 were the original master tracks, those being "D.A.N.C.E", "Tribulations", "Come Rain Come Shine", "Red Alert", "Bust A Move" and "Scramble". Master recordings of licensed tracks would later be included in HOTTEST PARTY 3.
- HOTTEST PARTY 2 features a wide range of genres and uses five times more motion data than its prequel.
- HOTTEST PARTY 2 introduces three new characters, Jun, NAOKI and U1, as well as the Mii character. NAOKI and U1 return from past titles while Jun and the Mii character are completely brand new to the series.
- All returning characters appear with new outfits in addition to retaining their outfits from the first game.
- The game play settings are completely new to the series with the speed, rotation, cut and jump options being under those settings. The first HOTTEST PARTY game included the latter two options, the cut (under the name Workout Step) and jump options. However, both options were exclusively available to Workout Mode due to software and memory limitations.
- Every time a player loads up HOTTEST PARTY 1, the game options are always on after the player selects their character, and the game won't autosave after they turn them off, even if autosave is turned on.
- Fortunately, this is no longer a problem in HOTTEST PARTY 2. The reason for this is because if autosave is already turned on, then the game options would automatically be saved. That way, the player won't have to turn them off every time they load up HOTTEST PARTY 2.
- Not only can the player practice the songs through the newly introduced Training Mode, but they can also watch the dancers' movements through the Dance View mode and view their performance either automatically from a fixed camera or in all different angles from a free camera.
Modes[]
All of the modes from HOTTEST PARTY return in HOTTEST PARTY 2. The game's main mode, Groove Circuit Mode, was renamed to Groove Arena Mode. Out of these, both Training Mode and Dance 'n Defend are completely new to the series, with the latter being exclusive to this game replacing the previous game's Free Play Mode's Battle style.

Stages[]
All of the stages from HOTTEST PARTY return in HOTTEST PARTY 2, in addition to 14 brand new stages:
- Bridge
- Psyche
- Reflexion
- Echos
- Premium
- 2nd Home
- Ascension
- TЁЯRA
- Spaceborn
- Wired
- Voyeur
- Mid Hills
- Liquid
- Comisphere
Out of all of the new stages that were introduced, Premium, TЁЯRA, Spaceborn, Wired, Voyeur, Mid Hills and Comisphere are the only seven dance stages that use background clips from DDRMAX -Dance Dance Revolution 6thMIX-, DDRMAX2 -Dance Dance Revolution 7thMIX- and Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME. However, if the player selects the song KYOKA-SUIGETSU-ROW (DDR EDITION) while the stage is set to TЁЯRA, an Easter egg will happen, which results in the music video for KYOKA-SUIGETSU-ROW being played on the screen. All 14 stages introduced in HOTTEST PARTY 2 return in DDR HOTTEST PARTY 3, while all 40 stages from the first game did not return, likely due to hardware limitations.
At 54 stages, HOTTEST PARTY 2 has the highest amount of stages in the entire DDR Wii series ever.
