Dance Dance Revolution HOTTEST PARTY 2 is the second Dance Dance Revolution wii game and second installment in the HOTTEST PARTY series. Hottest Party 2 was released on September 16, 2008 in North America. A teaser site for the Japanese release called Dance Dance Revolution Furu Furu Party was launched on December 9, 2008 featuring new gameplay footage from the game.

Gameplay[]

Hottest Party 2 features the same gameplay as the first Hottest Party and introduces new gameplay modes, gimmicks, characters and graphical enhancements. The game also features an all-new soundtrack featuring licensed music from the past four decades as well as new Konami Originals.

Changes from Dance Dance Revolution HOTTEST PARTY[]

  • Completely brand new graphics were introduced which stretch the limits of the hardware capabilities.
  • Features a wide range of genres and uses five times more motion data than HOTTEST PARTY.
  • HOTTEST PARTY 2 introduces three new characters, Jun, NAOKI and U1, as well as the Mii character. NAOKI and U1 return from past titles while Jun and the Mii character are completely brand new to the series.
  • All returning characters appear with new outfits in addition to retaining their outfits from HOTTEST PARTY.
  • The game play settings are completely new to the series with the speed, rotation, cut and jump options being under those settings. The first HOTTEST PARTY game included the latter two options, the cut option (under the name Workout Step) and the jump option, although both of those options were exclusively available to Workout Mode due to software limitations.
    • In a similar manner, if autosave is turned on, then the game options will automatically be saved so the player wouldn't have to turn them off every time they load up HOTTEST PARTY 2.
  • Not only can the player practice the songs through the newly introduced Training Mode, but they can also watch the dancers' movements through the Dance View mode and view their performance either automatically from a fixed camera or in all different angles from a free camera.

Modes[]

All of the modes from HOTTEST PARTY return in HOTTEST PARTY 2. The game's main mode, Groove Circuit Mode, was renamed to Groove Arena Mode. Out of these, both Training Mode and Dance 'n Defend are completely new to the series, with the latter being exclusive to this game replacing the previous game's Free Play Mode's Battle style.

  • Groove Arena Mode

  • Multi - Multi Style is for more than 2 players.
  • Friendship - For 2 or more players. The highest judgement in the group for each arrow is awarded to all players.
  • Sync - For 2 or more players. Group judgement is based on the lowest accuracy. A "Boo" or "NG" score will fail the game!

Stages[]

All of the stages from Hottest Party return in HOTTEST PARTY 2, in addition to 14 brand new stages:

  1. Bridge
  2. Psyche
  3. Reflexion
  4. Echos
  5. Premium
  6. 2nd Home
  7. Ascension
  8. TЁЯRA
  9. Spaceborn
  10. Wired
  11. Voyeur
  12. Mid Hills
  13. Liquid
  14. Comisphere

Out of all of the new stages that were introduced, only Premium, TЁЯRA, Spaceborn, Wired, Voyeur, Mid Hills and Comisphere are the only stages that use background clips from Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME. However, if the player selects the song KYOKA-SUIGETSU-ROW (DDR EDITION) while the stage is set to TЁЯRA, an Easter egg will happen, which results in the music video for KYOKA-SUIGETSU-ROW being played on the screen. All 14 stages introduced in HOTTEST PARTY 2 return in DDR HOTTEST PARTY 3, while all 40 stages from the first game did not return, likely due to hardware limitations.

At 54 stages, HOTTEST PARTY 2 has the highest amount of stages in the entire DDR Wii series ever.
