Dance Dance Revolution STR!KE is a music video game developed and published by Konami and released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2 in Japan only. It serves as the Japanese counterpart of Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME 2, as it uses the same interface and songs along with new ones exclusively played on STR!KE.
General Information / Changes[]
- Second "catch up" Japanese Dance Dance Revolution title. It contains some of the new licenses/covers of Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME2, all of its new CS songs/BEMANI crossovers, as well as the new KONAMI originals/BEMANI crossovers from ULTRAMIX2.
- Unlike in DDR FESTIVAL, the ULTRAMIX2 DLC songs are not included.
- The ULTRAMIX2 songs all received new BEGINNER charts.
- Interface/scoring system/points system is based on EXTREME2's.
- Like in EXTREME2, almost all songs have their own unique background videos now, even beatmania IIDX songs that once had their own videos. (Many are based on the videos first used in EXTREME2, though.)
- The only five songs with proper videos that eliminate dancers are DoLL, iFUTURELIST, Let's Dance, Polovtsian Dances And Chorus, and You Sexy Thing.
- GYRUSS -FULL TILT-, which did have its own unique video in ULTRAMIX2, is replaced with a more generic video.
- The only five songs with proper videos that eliminate dancers are DoLL, iFUTURELIST, Let's Dance, Polovtsian Dances And Chorus, and You Sexy Thing.
- DoLL and iFUTURELIST display each others' BPMs accidentally. This was corrected in later Dance Dance Revolution releases.
- RHYTHM, BLUES, DRUM and BASS received new models exclusive to this release, based on their outfits from DDR FESTIVAL -Dance Dance Revolution-.
- Final Japanese Dance Dance Revolution title to feature backgrounds for songs upon starting them.
- First Japanese Dance Dance Revolution title since 5thMIX CS to not revive older Dance Dance Revolution songs or have an EXTRA STAGE system.
- Can unlock everything in DDR FESTIVAL through System Data Support.
- Only Dance Dance Revolution CS title to promote the release of a movie, RIZE by David LaChapelle.
- This replaces the Karaoke Revolution demo from EXTREME2.
- Much like in Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME2, J.C. and SA-JA replace IZAM and NI-NA.
- Final Dance Dance Revolution game to feature in-game Dancemania advertisements.
- Total songs: 52
