Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) Wiki

Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE 2, also known as Dancing Stage UNIVERSE 2 in Europe, is a music video game in the Dance Dance Revolution series developed by Hudson Soft and published by Konami and released in 2007 on Xbox 360. The game is a sequel to Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE.

General Information / Changes[]

NA version[]

  • Unlike the first Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE, Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE2 can be played on North American and Japanese Xbox 360 consoles.
  • First Dance Dance Revolution game on an Xbox console to give foot ratings to ONI charts. Only two songs (Entry of the Gladiators Kaz Mix and Orange Sky), plus one DLC song (DYNAMITE RAVE), have ONI charts, though.
  • First Xbox series Dance Dance Revolution title since Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX to not feature any arcade Dancemania license revivals.
  • Interface is very similar to Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE, but with different background animations on menus, new fonts for scores and step judgments, and an easier to read Groove Radar. The interface has a heavy emphasis on reds, pinks, and purples.
    • Song banners still consist of a cropped part of the song's background with the song title and artist overlaid in the same generic font as UNIVERSE.
  • Unlike Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE, revivals from Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX use their charts from that game, instead of their DDR FESTIVAL -Dance Dance Revolution- charts.
  • First Dance Dance Revolution with a character creation mode.
  • Once again, songs are unlocked through Quest Mode, first introduced in Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX3.
    • Introduced in Quest Mode is a shop, where the player can buy songs, random movies and character outfits instead of the items appearing at random, like in previous titles.
  • Third and final game in the Xbox series to contain nonstop Power Mixes.
    • Curiously, ON THE JAZZ and Balalaika, Carried With the Wind Jondi&Spesh mix appear exclusively in Power Mixes, and are not playable as individual songs.
  • Only game in the UNIVERSE series to not feature any new BEMANI crossover songs.
  • For the first time in the Xbox series, Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE2's DLC doesn't include any new songs and consists entirely of revivals. This is also the only game in the UNIVERSE series to not features any new songs for DLC.
    • None of UNIVERSE2's DLC can be purchased anymore, except for Gamerpics.
    • As the only playable 10-footer chart in UNIVERSE2 is the Double EXPERT chart of GRADIUSIC CYBER, a DLC song, there are no 10-footers available whatsoever for players who didn't buy the song while the game's DLC was still available.
  • First Xbox Dance Dance Revolution game developed by Hudson Soft.
  • Total songs: 75, plus 10 DLC songs

EU version[]

  • The European counterpart of Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE2, keeping its interface, DLC songs, and unlocking system.
    • The only notable difference between Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE2 and Dancing Stage UNIVERSE2 is the first group of licenses, with the 14 songs from the North American version being replaced by 12 licenses for the European version.
      • Consequently, Dancing Stage UNIVERSE2 contains two songs less than Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE2.
  • Final Dancing Stage game released on the Xbox 360.
    • Also the final Dance Dance Revolution game to be re-titled "Dancing Stage" in Europe; future releases would keep the Dance Dance Revolution name in all regions.
  • Final European CS Dance Dance Revolution / Dancing Stage title to feature licenses from the A Different Drum label.
  • Dancing Stage UNIVERSE2 and its predecessor are the only Dancing Stage titles with music videos for all of their new licenses.
  • Only Dancing Stage game on an Xbox console to give foot ratings to ONI charts. However, only two songs (Entry of the Gladiators Kaz Mix and Orange Sky), plus one DLC song (DYNAMITE RAVE), have ONI charts, though.
  • Only Xbox series Dancing Stage title since Dancing Stage Unleashed to not feature any arcade Dancemania license revivals.
  • Only Dancing Stage title with a character creation mode.
  • Dancing Stage UNIVERSE2's DLC doesn't include any new songs and consists entirely of revivals.
    • None of UNIVERSE2's DLC can be purchased anymore, except for Gamerpics.
  • Only Xbox Dancing Stage game developed by Hudson Soft.
  • Total songs: 73, plus 10 DLC songs
