Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 4 is a music video game in the Dance Dance Revolution series developed and published by Konami and released in 2006 on Xbox.
General Information/New Changes[]
- Fourth and final Xbox Dance Dance Revolution title.
- It's also the only ULTRAMIX game with no European counterpart.
- It was sold at $29.99, versus the $40-50 range of the earlier games in the series.
- With all available DLC songpacks, ULTRAMIX4 holds the record for largest home console song list in any region, with a whopping 163 songs.
- However, the largest on-disc song list record is still held by the Japanese PlayStation 2 release of Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME, with 111 songs.
- Interface is based on ULTRAMIX2, though the interface has been changed quite a bit.
- Banners are now displayed at the bottom center as opposed to the top.
- A new font for BPM has been introduced.
- Foot ratings are replaced with a bar with little pegs representing feet.
- Song and artist information are now displayed to the immediate left of the GROOVE RADAR and are now in the center.
- Instead of rectangular boxes with the song and artist name for other songs to the left and right of the currently displayed song on the music select screen, banners are shown instead.
- Unlike previous games in the series, ULTRAMIX4 makes no distinction between default and hidden songs. This also carried over to the Xbox 360 titles.
- Only two new song packs were released for ULTRAMIX4, the smallest amount for any ULTRAMIX title.
- Both of ULTRAMIX4's song packs consist of two new licenses, a new remix of a Naoki Maeda song, and two revived KONAMI originals with brand-new ONI charts.
- Unlike previous song packs, they only unlock the songs to be played as they already are in the game's disc.
- Only ULTRAMIX title to save scores in BEGINNER.
- Only ULTRAMIX title to feature songs from contests - it includes four winning songs from the Broadjam.com DDR Song Contest.
- All playable characters (sans LADY and MAID-ZUKIN) are replaced with new characters, with YUNI as the main dancer. None of them would return in the following Xbox 360 titles.
- This marks the last playable appearances of CHARMY, ASTRO, AKIRA, MAID-ZUKIN and BOLDO in any Dance Dance Revolution title.
- All older Dance Dance Revolution songs (including Dancemania licenses and new DLC packs) have received new banners and backgrounds, with the exceptions of BLUE IMPULSE (for EXTREME) and TEARS.
- AM-3P and WAKA LAKA's original banners are used, though they received new backgrounds.
- First and only Dance Dance Revolution title to use licensed music as BGM.
- Loöq Records, Jondi & Spesh's record label provided the BGM music for the game.
- Total songs: 76 (plus 10 new DLC songs and 77 from previous ULTRAMIX games)
