Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) Wiki

Not to be confused with DDR UNIVERSE 3 song Streamline.

STREAM (全体密度) is denoted as the amount of sets of steps that are right after one another (step density) in the song. The song with the highest STREAM values is EGOISM 440, which has Single and Double CHALLENGE charts with STREAM values of 226 and 270, respectively.

DDR 2013 Triple Journey -TAG EDITION- - Triumvirate (New Single & Double Challenge)

Triple Journey -TAG EDITION-'s Challenge charts have extremely high Stream values.

On the Groove Radar, the Stream (Japanese: 全体密度, Romaji: Zentai mitsudo, lit. whole density) aspect represents the overall density of the the steps of a chart (the peak density would refer to Voltage instead). The number of steps (and, starting with DDR X, Shock Arrows) in a song is not the only factor in determining the Stream value. The length of the song also comes into play. Currently, EGOISM 440's Challenge charts have the highest Stream value, at 226 and 270 respectively. 888 is 1:38 long and has 753 steps (on Single; Double has 680) making an average of 461 notes per minute (417 notes per minute for Double) throughout the whole song. Elemental Creation's Challenge charts have more notes than 888 (860 and 832 vs. 753 and 680) but is also longer (2:06.792 vs 1:37.838). This causes Elemental Creation to have a lower average step rate (406/393 notes per minute vs 461/417 notes per minute) and therefore the Stream value would be lower (166/179 vs 200/200).

Your score determines how much your My Groove Radar Stream stat will increase. It works like this: , where s represents your score on the song's difficulty, v the chart's Stream value, and f the Stream value that will be added to your My Groove Radar's Stream stat.

For example, if you scored 988,260 (s) on Tohoku EVOLVED's Single Expert chart, you would get only 159 (f) instead of the full 161 (v). Then the 159 would be turned into 15.9, or 15.

How to Calculate Stream[]

It is actually calculated as the average number of steps per minute, calculated as the following:

Average Step Density = 60 × (Steps + Shock Arrows) ÷ Song Length (sec)

The Average Step Density is the average number of steps per minute, always rounded down to the nearest whole number. The Song Length is usually determined by the time between the song's beginning (usually right when the music starts) and end (when the "CLEARED" message appears). As of Dance Dance Revolution X, any Shock Arrows present in the chart will also contribute towards the Average Step Density.

  • If Average Step Density is equal to or less than 300, STREAM value = Average Step Density ÷ 3.
  • If Average Step Density is equal to or greater than 300,
    • and the play style is Single, STREAM value = (Average Step Density - 139) × 100 ÷ 161;
    • or the play style is Double, STREAM value = (Average Step Density - 183) × 100 ÷ 117.
Examples
  1. Synergy For Angels (Single EXPERT): 535 notes in 114 seconds, Average Step Density = 281, STREAM = 93.
  2. EGOISM 440 (Single CHALLENGE): 811 notes in 96.545 seconds, Average Step Density = 504, STREAM = 226.
  3. Triple Journey -TAG EDITION- (Double CHALLENGE): 712 notes in 102.5 seconds, Average Step Density = 416, STREAM = 199.
  4. POSSESSION (20th Anniversary Mix) (Double CHALLENGE): 751 notes + 132 Shock Arrows in 118.895 seconds, Average Step Density = 445, STREAM = 223.

Scoring

The player's STREAM rating on their MY GROOVE RADAR is added by way of taking the player's score on the chart, dividing it by 1,000,000, then multiplying it by that chart's STREAM value, and dividing it by 10. For example, if the player got a score of 699,300 on MAX 300's Single EXPERT chart (which has a STREAM value of 143), their STREAM rating on their MY GROOVE RADAR would reach 100. Dance Dance Revolution (2014) was the only game where it was possible for the player to reach a 200 STREAM rating on their MY GROOVE RADAR without needing a Perfect Full Combo on the charts with the highest STREAM values. In this case, the player would need a score of at least 884,960 or 740,750 on EGOISM 440's Single and Double CHALLENGE charts, respectively.
